# Improved Baby pets - pet buffers for adena

Three pets you can get without Coin of Luck. They cast the same 2-hour buffs as the pet buffers from the donation shop, but with two differences. First, the pet appears at level 55 and keeps growing on its own: while it's nearby, it takes 35% of the experience its owner gets. Second, level-gated buffs (songs, dances, Counter Critical) unlock by the pet's own level, not the owner's - to get the full set, the pet has to be leveled up. Buffs «from level 1» are available right away. Improved Baby pets have no attack skills.

The cheap way - raise it yourself: Buy a regular baby pet in the same place, «Shop» → «Pets», for 5 000 000 adena: Baby Buffalo Panpipe , Baby Cougar Chime or Baby Kookaburra Ocarina . Level it up to 55 (the baby pet also takes part of its owner's experience), summon it and go to a Pet Manager (for example, Cooper in Giran) → «Evolve pet.». # What are pet buffers and how they work

Pet buffers on L2 After Work are permanent pets that automatically cast a powerful buff set on their owner and keep them active. No more running to an NPC buffer every two hours, no need to recruit a support to your party, no standing in town for a rebuff — summon your pet and the right buff set is already on your character, refreshed automatically when buffs expire. The pet has no timer and stays with you permanently as long as you feed it. Each pet has its own buff template for a specific role — warrior, archer, dagger, battle mage, support mage or tank. This is a full replacement for regular buffs, not an addition on top.

Pet lifetime: Permanent — the pet has no timer, it stays with the character as long as it's fed
What to feed it: "Adult Pet's Food" — the same food for all buffer pets
Where to buy the food: Right in Alt+B, without leaving your location: «Donation Store» → «Pets» or «Coupon exchange», and also «Shop» → «Pets» and «Grocery» — 10,000 adena apiece. That's 10 times pricier than the Pet Manager in town (for example Cooper in Giran) — a premium for not having to run anywhere for feed

Buying a pet: Right in the Community Board: Alt+B → «Donation Store» → «Misc» section → «Pets». Pick the pet that fits your class from the list and get its summoning necklace right away — no intermediate items or quests; pet feed is in the same list, see Workshop (Alt+B)
Exchanging a coupon for a pet: A separate mechanic in the neighboring window: Alt+B → «Donation Store» → «Coupon exchange». The "Pet Exchange Coupon" can be exchanged for any 1st- or 2nd-generation pet. The coupon itself isn't sold — it only comes in the starter packs: 1 pc. in the Medium and 2 pc. in the Large
Transferring a pet to another character: The summoning necklace can be sent to another character on your account through the Dimensional Merchant , found in towns. In their menu choose «Transfer a Dimensional Item to another character on this account»; the recipient picks up the parcel in the same menu via «Withdraw a transfered Dimensional Item». The transfer costs 1,000 adena per item. The pet's level and experience travel with the necklace, but items in the pet's inventory stay with the sender — take them out beforehand. A summoned pet can't be transferred: unsummon it first
Auto-heal owner: Yes, all pets have Pet Battle Heal — triggers when the owner's HP drops below 30%. Melee and archer pets additionally have Pet Greater Heal, which triggers earlier — already below 80%
Auto MP restore: Magic pets and the tank pet have Pet Recharge: below 60% MP on the owner and only in combat. Mage and support pets additionally get the Pet Mana Regeneration buff from pet level 40
Pet attack skills: Yes — the pet also attacks on its own

Most pet buffs are enhanced "combo" buffs: one pet buff replaces two classic ones. For example, Pet Improved Combat boosts both attack and defense at the same time — it's a combined Might + Shield in one buff.
When a pet casts a combo buff, classic single buffs (Might, Shield, Blessed Body, Empower, etc.) are automatically removed. That's why a pet buffer is a self-sufficient alternative to a regular buff set, not just a cherry on top.
Pet Prophecies and regular Prophecies from a buffer ( / / ) share one slot — the last one cast wins. Cast the pet first and put a Prophecy on top — or vice versa.
Pet utilities: Switch State (switches between attack and support mode: in attack mode the pet doesn't buff its owner until it's switched back or summoned again) and Buff Control (for 2 hours forbids the pet from buffing its owner - handy if you don't want the pet to overwrite your current buffs; buffs already cast stay, healing and MP recovery keep working). All pet buffers have Buff Control.
